Final Illusion is a research fiction and illusion press franchise created by Hironobu Sakaguchi, and developed and owned or operated by Square Enix (formerly Square). The franchise centers around some fantasy and knowledge fantasy role-playing video gaming (RPGs). The eponymous first game in the series, posted in 1987, was conceived by Sakaguchi as his last-ditch work in the overall game industry; the name was successful and spawned sequels. The gaming series has since branched into other styles such as tactical role-playing, action role-playing, massively multiplayer online role-playing, sporting, third-person shooter, fighting with each other, and tempo.
